Comparative Religion
at Acadia concentrates on
the study of world religions. The emphasis is on religion
in the modern world, the living dimension of various faiths
and their continuing importance
to many different societies and cultures. A full-year
introductory course (CREL 1206) brings the student into contact
with all of the major world religions. Advanced courses on
the religions of Asia and on specialized topics (e.g., Ecology
and Religion) are available on a rotating basis. There
are as well several courses in History, Sociology, Philosophy
and Interdisciplinary Studies that are cross-listed with Comparative
Religion (see below for more details).
There is no major in Comparative
Religion, but it can be chosen as a minor. Currently the professor of Comparative
Religion (Donna Seamone) is situated in the History Department. The
